Why use LIMS? The laboratories that come for inspection usually do not ask this question because they already have the answer in their minds. Everyone's new experimental building has been built, and various advanced imported instruments have been piled up in the laboratory. The hardware conditions between laboratories are similar, and they can only compare with software. A colleague in a certain laboratory has tested LIMS, but if they don't, they will appear outdated. Therefore, some laboratory leaders intentionally or unintentionally treat LIMS as a face saving project, always wanting to show that they are the "first", and if they cannot be the "first", they still have to declare themselves as the "first batch"; The first requirement put forward by some laboratories when implementing LIMS is to "not make it like a certain large laboratory" to demonstrate their originality, but in fact, most LIMS are still similar. There are also some laboratories that use LIMS to digitize existing paper inspection records and approval processes. As a result, after using LIMS, only the data carrier is changed, and the outdated laboratory management remains unchanged. Therefore, we cannot go to LIMS just for the sake of it, but must be clear about our purpose of going to LIMS. Otherwise, we will lose direction and put the cart before the horse in the specific work of selection, implementation, and application. The laboratory decided to adopt LIMS in order to collect and utilize laboratory information resources, strengthen laboratory management, and achieve business and quality management effects that cannot be effectively achieved through manual methods. The informatization of laboratories is only a means, and strengthening management through informatization of laboratories is the goal.
