built in hallway storage

Most of us who have smaller homes deal with a small entryway…or worse, no entry at all. If your front door opens right into your living room, with no buffer space at all, you know exactly what we mean.

It is possible to carve out a bit of space to set your entryway apart from the rest of your home, and to give you a spot to organize the family comings and goings. Keys, homework, jackets… they all add up to our day to day. And, even a tiny entryway should make a great first impression on visitors!

You must check out these great small entryway ideas & storage projects for your small space. We love these awesome solutions!

Small Entryway Decor Ideas

Pretty much every one of our small entryways picks will have some combination of both decor and storage, but we are going to start with the ones that are heavier on “style”. (Don’t worry, we are going to cover more entryway storage ideas farther down the post!)

‘Cecilia Moyer‘ created this super pretty modern small entryway with tons of style, with her DIY sponge painting technique. Go check out how she created this easy update to her foyer. Want to add plants to yours? Awesome idea!  Check out our post on the best low light houseplants over at TGG…

This lovely tiny entry has the perfect amount of decor and storage for it’s space! Styled to be minimal, but not boring, the round mirror is very on trend and the ottoman poufs give you a space to sit to take off your shoes. Check out the entire gorgeous space and ideas over at ‘Almafied‘.

This small apartment entryway is dressed up to perfection by ‘Homey Oh My‘. They have 6 guidelines for you on how to design a functional entryway, Scandinavian style!

Go on over to ‘Love, Create, Celebrate‘, and look at this modern small entryway! Not only do you get to learn how to DIY that amazing wood accent wall, there are hidden entryway ideas here too. Go check out their full post, because they show you how they changed out their boring front door ( we approve) and on the other side of the entryway, turned a closet into entryway storage.

Entryway Storage Ideas

So as promised here are some small entryway ideas with more storage, perfect for busy families!

Check out this gorgeous example of entryway shoe storage ideas! From ‘Design Sponge‘, find out how to make this shoe storage ladder yourself, as well as how to style this small entryway. Step by step photos and instructions for the shelf.

From ‘The 36th Ave‘, this small entryway idea is the perfect way to add storage to a tiny space. A hall tree! We love how she styled it with B&W accents, and then even hung a houseplant on the tree. Not just for backpacks and jackets!

This entryway closet idea is great for those of us who have to find space for an entry. From ‘Apartment Therapy‘, find out how to convert a coat closet into a perfect entryway storage spot.

This modern and clean small entryway idea comes courtesy of Ikea. ‘Apartment Therapy‘ showcases an entry that used the “Besta” cabinet series to create storage in a really tiny space. We love that this is closed storage, which means no one can see how many unread catalogs or kids toys you’ve stuffed inside. 😉

If you have a super small entry, then you probably find it impossible to locate a bench short enough for your space. No problem, just jump on over to ‘Making Manzanita‘ and find out how to build their little entryway bench! They have free plans and a how-to video.

You are going to adore this great small entryway storage idea done by Home Remedies RX. She was inspired by a Pottery Barn catalog, showing off some of their fav entryway ideas. This is a great example of how you can create an organized entry space from just an empty wall and the right styling!

We love these creative and practical small entryway ideas! So get started getting your home in order, because these projects are not that difficult, in fact you may be wondering “why didn’t I think of that?” You have the ideas now, so make it a great weekend project!
