Beyond the immediate discomfort associated with prolonged sitting, in July 2022 Dr Edward Laskowski from the Mayo Clinic cautioned:

“People who sit for more than eight hours a day with no physical activity, have a risk of dying similar to the risk of dying posed by obesity and smoking”. 

This startling revelation aligns with the findings of MedicalNewsToday, whose researchers reported in January 2024 that “people who predominantly sat at work showed a higher risk of mortality from all causes (16%) and cardiovascular disease (34%) compared to those who usually didn’t sit, after adjusting for gender, age, education, smoking, drinking, and body mass index.”

Believe it or not, a chair can affect the blood flow in your body.  If your chair is not adjusted properly it can cause poor blood flow to your shoulders, legs, back and neck. What is a good sitting position at the office? You can offset this risk somewhat by exercising regularly, but the hours in your chair will still take a toll. To compound the issue, most of us also sit a fair amount when we aren’t at work, for example driving and watching TV, and so the problem only gets worse. How long can we sit on the plastic chair doing our works in the company?

Most of the employees are doing the sitting job in the companies and preferably their chairs are made up of plastic and during this summer season sitting on those chair would create more heat effect and that would have effect due to constant sweating. How to get rid of this situation as the company is not going to arrange other chairs. What best can be done or added to the chair so that heat is not felt. How to avoid sitting job in the company and move or walk for a while. Nevertheless the summer is more challenging for the sitting job employees.
