  • On Demand How to Approach Your First Robotic Machine Tending System

With the continued challenges facing manufacturing, many companies are automating for the first time. The first step is identifying the right application and company to work with. Once that is done and the approval to move forward is given, the question that often arises is: now what? This session will describe the benefits and drawbacks of two possible approaches: purchasing a pre-engineered but unfinished system or a full turn-key solution. Attendees will come away with a better understanding of the benefits, costs and risks associated with these approaches and will be better able to judge which path forward is the correct one for them. Agenda:  Introduction Challenges facing machine shops How you start your automation journey goes a long way toward its success Pre-engineered workcell vs fully integrated system Summary

  • On Demand Don’t Let It Walk Out the Door: Capturing Institutional Knowledge in Your Shop

The most valuable data in your shop might not live in your dashboards — it lives in your people. Every day, your team is generating insights during setups, changeovers, inspections, machine hiccups and customer calls. But if you’re not capturing that institutional knowledge, you’re building a business that’s vulnerable to turnover, vacations and burnout. In this live webinar, Paul Van Metre (co-founder, ProShop ERP) and Mike Payne (president, Hill Manufacturing & Fabrication) will share how Hill moved beyond memory and whiteboards to build a scalable knowledge system — one that documents setups, tracks performance and brings process visibility to the whole team. Whether you're a job shop owner or a manufacturing leader, this session will give you the tools to protect your know-how and future-proof your operations. Agenda:  What institutional knowledge is and why it’s your biggest liability if left undocumented Practical ways to start capturing operator feedback, setup notes and more How ProShop ERP helps turn informal insights into formal processes What happens when your shop stops surviving on experience and starts building for longevity

Arrow Workholding Fixtures - All World Machinery Supply

Quality

All World prides itself on designing and manufacturing reliable, durable, and precise fixtures.

“Your fixture will hold parts securely, and clamp them repeatedly, in the same place each and every time,” Engineering Manager Steve Hagedorn said.

A high-quality fixture is not something that you can just measure with a micrometer, or even a CMM. While dimensional accuracy is, of course, important, suitability for the task must be designed in from the start. Functional testing is at least as important, because that is where the rubber really meets the road.

Prior to shipment, fixtures undergo this testing in the final assembly department, and staff meticulously review inspection documents to ensure proper operation. There are so many questions to answer at this point: Is the part easy to load and unload properly? Do the clamps bend, or damage the part in any way? Is the part in contact with all the datum pads when clamped? Does it work every time?

“These types of requirements, which are hard to define, are often the ones that make the difference between an okay fixture and an exceptional fixture,” Hagedorn said.
