Jib crane is a kind of small and medium sized lifting equipment with unique structure. Its lifting system is fixed at the end of its arm or travel along the arm; its arm can rotate but can’t be lifted up.
It is composed of pillar, rotating arm, rotating driven system and electric hoist. The pillar is fixed on concrete ground with anchor bolt, and the arm is driven to rotate by cycloid gear reducer, the electric hoist travels horizontally on the steel I-beam of the arm and lifts up heavy load. The pillar of jib crane is a hollow steel structure with light dead weight, long span, heavy lifting capacity which is economic and reliable.
As a jib crane manufacturer and supplier, Donqi Crane offers types of jib crane designs, and offers turnkey jib crane projects from jib crane design, jib crane production, to jib crane installation and maintenance for over the world. Generally jib cranes can be grouped into fixed jib crane, including, floor mounted jib crane and wall mounted jib crane, wall travelling jib crane, and mobile jib crane, etc.

Lift and transfer: Dongqi Jib Cranes lift and transport loads in semi-circles and full circles with the jib rotating around the support around 200 degrees and 360 degrees.
Handle material at wherever you want: Because of the jib boom, the handling tools such as manual and electric hoists, manipulators, balancers, and welding wire feeders, etc., can travel easily on trolleys along the boom.
A suitable jib crane can improve the efficiency of material handling and work flow production. How to choose the right jib crane for your application? Dongqi Crane gives you the follow suggestion for your reference:

The only foundation mounting Dongqi Crane recommends is the one shown on the approval drawing supplied with the crane. A qualified person must determine the adequacy of any other method of mounting.
The vertical column of a floor mounted crane should be plumb. These cranes rotate very easily. With a load on the boom, if the column is not plumb, the boom may rotate by itself. In order to prevent unwanted boom rotation, it is beneficial to spend extra time ensuring the column of a floor mounted jib crane is plumb
Most installers will finish the concrete very flat and then bolt the jib crane column directly to the foundation. Our jib columns generally are very square because they are welded on a rotating semi-robotic jig. However, no weldment is perfect. The use of a mortar bed to correct any imperfections in the finish of the foundation or to plumb the jib crane column is perfectly acceptable.
Floor mounted jibs require a concrete foundation with reinforcing steel rods and anchor bolts embedded in the concrete.
The wall-mounted jibs require high strength mounting bolts. These bolts must be no less than Grade 5 quality. The size is specified on the approval drawing and ranges from ½ to ¾ inch diameter. Usually a minimum of a man-lift and a forklift truck are required to install the cranes. Large cranes may need additional equipment for installation.
Wall mounted jibs must be mounted to a structure determined to be adequate by a qualified person. The thrust and pull forces given for each jib, the weight of the jib, the capacity, impact, and hoist weight are some of the factors that must be taken into consideration.
Most jibs are shipped by a common carrier. They are usually shipped loose in a closed trailer with the hardware in a separate box. Some of the larger cranes require a flat-bed truck or trailer. Other methods are available. For an additional fee, units may be palletized to protect the finish.
Both wall mounted and floor mounted jib cranes can be fitted for motorized rotation.
Please contact us for details and pricing. Pleave leave us your jib crane inquiry with detailed parameters such as lifitng capacity, lifting height, arm length, rotation degree, voltage, and your contact so that enginner can send you jib crane qotation as soon as possible. Free consultation and free jib crane drawing is offered to clients who need material handling solutions.
Our standard jib cranes are designed for indoor use. We can provide special shielding on the jib for outdoor use. Special maintenance will be required for jibs used outdoors. Please contact us for details and pricing.
A jib’s life expectancy depends on the environment, the severity and frequency of use, the ambient temperature, and other factors. For this reason, we cannot provide a value for life expectancy. Dongqi jib cranes are designed for daily use, and with the exception of routine maintenance, should provide years of trouble free operation.
The rated capacity of the jib is the maximum “live load” the jib can pick up. A typical hoist and trolley weight is assumed and added to the rated capacity for design purposes. These assumed weights are 15% of the rated capacity and are not considered part of the “live load”. However, hoist and trolley weights greater than 15% of the rated capacity should be considered part of the “live load”.

During the hundreds of classes, Columbus McKinnon’s training team has conducted over the years, there are a variety of questions that arise regarding the use, maintenance and inspection of overhead cranes and hoists. So, I wanted to take this opportunity to outline seven of the most common concerns, myths, and misconceptions we’ve received from crane and hoist operators and technicians during our classes.
Answer: According to ASME B30.11, rated load markings are not required on monorails but are recommended. Before marking the monorail, a qualified person must determine the rated load on the monorail beam. Once the monorail is marked, the rating should be legible from the ground floor. ASME’s recommendation also applies to marking the rated loads of hoists on the monorail. For more information on hoist marking guidelines, see ASME B30.16.
Answer: The short answer to your question is “yes.” However, ASME B30.16 stipulates that when a system is comprised of components with different rated capacities, the rated load of the “system” shall be based on the lowest-rated individual component.
System is defined as the combination of Monorail, Hoist and Trolley in the case of a Monorail and Crane; Hoist and Trolley in the case of an Underhung Crane.
ASME B30.16-1.3.2 states that the supporting structure, including trolleys, monorail, or crane, shall be designed to withstand the loads and forces imposed by the hoist for the rated load.
Important note: As of , ASME B30.11 Monorails & Underhung Cranes and ASME B30.17 were consolidated. This was done to better harmonize the standards, as many people have noticed in the past that B30.11 and B30.17 had similar wording and, in some instances, were exactly the same. This can cause confusion when referencing and interpreting the standards. Therefore, the ASME committees for both standards came to a consensus and created only one standard that refers to Cranes & Monorails (With Underhung Trolley or Bridge). This standard is ASME B30.17. You can see a cover page of the standard here
Answer: There is no specific time period during which load tests must be performed once the initial installation is inspected and load tested. Some states require operators to load test hoists and cranes every four years, but, in most cases, if the hoist is not altered, repaired or modified, it can remain in service indefinitely without a load test being required.
Answer: This depends on the type of crane. OSHA regulation .179 applies to top-running overhead and gantry cranes with top-running trolley hoists. For these types of cranes, monthly inspections of the hoist’s chain, wire rope and hooks are required with a recorded certification. This certification record must include the signature of the person who performed the inspection and the identifier of the chain, wire and hook that was inspected. If a hoist and trolley are underhung, frequent inspections are required, but written documentation is not.
Answer: According to ASME standards, you must be a “qualified person” to inspect and repair cranes and hoists. A “qualified person” is a person who, by possession of a recognized degree or certificate of professional standing, or who, by extensive knowledge, training and experience, has successfully demonstrated the ability to solve or resolve problems relating to the subject matter and work. These individuals do not have to be professional engineers.
Answer: Hoist disassembly is not always required for yearly inspections. What is found during the inspection typically determines how far you need to break down the hoist. Be sure to reference the manufacturer’s OEM manual when disassembling any hoist.
Answer: According to OSHA .184 and ASME B30.9, slings do not require latches on the hooks, unlike hoist and crane hooks where latches are required unless they constitute a hazard.
